I’m Steven Lang, an artist and writer from Minnesota.
I’m excited! (Rare for me, exciting in itself.) “Why?” you might ask. Read on…
My debut novel, The Art of Falling Apart, is coming in June, 2026! Preorders start in February. Stay tuned.
In other news, my short story, Billy’s Paradox, was recently named runner up in @press_53′s Annual Award for Short Fiction.
I’d be delighted if you took a look at the story. Do also catch brilliant work by fellow runner-up Steph Rantz @st.rantz and prize winner Theresa Boyer @kitchywitch. I’m in great company here!
Also, please check out my recent collaboration with West St. Paul artist Carolyn Swiszcz:
“The NOvA Experiment,” with text by Steven Lang and illustrations by Carolyn Swiszcz, tells the story of an ambitious but troubled particle physics researcher working at Fermilab’s NOvA Far Detector, a neutrino research facility located in remote northern Minnesota. An anomalous neutrino detection event sends her down a harrowing path as she struggles to manage her schizoaffective disorder, her relationship with a fellow researcher, and her reputation as a woman in a field whose superstars are all still men. Size is 8.5 X 5.5 on card stock. 10 pages. 2024. $10. Available on etsy. Originally published in Catamaran Literary Reader, the full story can be read here.
