For this series I have been scanning various objects and foods (usually highly processed and “fast” foods). Although I consider this work to be photography by definition, it diverges technically, aesthetically, and conceptually from typical photographic representation. By using a flatbed scanner rather than a camera (thereby limiting the depth of field to just a few millimeters) I am able to minimize the perceptual distance between subject and object.
